The Beta’s Regret

Chapter 218

Chapter 218

(Shevek’s Pov)

As I ran, the forest wind whipped over my skin,

Earlier, I chose to use the forest to get to the Silvermoon pack and not by car.

I had no idea why I had the strong urge to stay hidden even though I knew I could easily announce myself and meet Rose if she would accept to see me.

We shouldn’t have had that fight. It was all a misunderstanding, and I should have answered her questions when she asked

  1. me.

I felt a light pang of guilt as I admitted that I was responsible for it. NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.

The honest truth was I refused to put my pride aside to get the woman I wanted, and it wasn’t until Eden had confronted me before I fully realized what I had done.

I didn’t want to lose Rose, not when I knew she was the woman for me.

My beloved.

I quickened my pace. I was already within the Silvermoon territory. I knew how most wolf packs operated.

They would have guard wolves at the borders, which made it almost impossible to penetrate without being caught.

That was why I came prepared. I knew that in between the evening and midnight shifts, there would be a few minutes of distraction, and the guard wolves wouldn’t be on alert. That was the best time to slip in like I did.

Aside from that, I used a potion to hide my scent. It was something Kaliyah had taught me before her death.

I slipped in unnoticed.

In no time, I was in front of the pack house, but I stuck to the shadows.

From the investigation I had carried out and what Rose told me, I knew the mate who rejected her was Alpha Griffin, the former Alpha of this pack, and this was exactly where he would be.

I took a few minutes to inspect the house, looking for ways I could sneak in.

It was a large house. Not like my mansion, but it was impressive. However, I could see the evidence of lack of maintenance. Things were beginning to fall apart here, it’s only a matter of time.

I felt an odd sense of satisfaction knowing that the Alpha who maltreated my beloved might not have a legacy very soon. When I mapped out my movements, I moved quickly, at the speed of light.

I paid attention to the sounds coming out from the pack house. It was different from what I expected. There was no activity, nothing. I couldn’t feel Rose anywhere.

I frowned.

An unusual feeling crawled into me, and I had an idea that maybe this was a trap. Everywhere was just too quiet.

Or maybe it was just me, but something seemed very strange about this place. I expected to see guards around the house, which should have made it more difficult to get in.

I could sense that people were still awake and in the house, but I haven’t heard a sound

I shoved those thoughts aside and continued inspecting.

After a while, I calculated four maids, two omegas, and three guards. For a house this large, those numbers of staff were less than enough.

I moved along the house and stuck to the wall, creeping. At one point, I missed my calculations and almost ran into one of the guards. I dived back into the shadows.

The guard stopped and looked back. He made a move in my direction. I held my breath.

I wasn’t scared of a fight, but I didn’t want to be discovered. I had a bad feeling about this place. The fact that I was around the house and I couldn’t feel Rose was disturbing…

The guard was only a few feet away from me when a loud howl rent the air, and the guard turned his head in that direction.

With a sigh, he gave one last look in my direction and moved away.

I released a breath and continued moving.

I began to pick up Whispers. It sounded like two people were talking secretly.

I moved closer.

From where I stood, I saw an opening to a balcony where two figures stood.

Two men.

Their voices were hushed, but I could hear them clearly.

“I have plans, Theo. You shouldn’t be worried about anything.” One of them said.

“Plans? What kind of plan is going to work when your daughter is nowhere to be found? I need a Luna.” The second said.

“And you will have one.” The first man, who seemed older, replied.

From what I could see, the older man was Alpha Griffin, Rose’s ex–mate, and the other younger man was Theo, my daughter’s former mate.

I balled my fists in anger. I felt a sudden urge to attack and beat both men till they felt the kind of pain they instilled in the women I loved.

But I took my stand and listened.

Alpha Griffin was the only key to knowing where Rose was, and I wouldn’t ruin that because of anger. I needed to find Rose as fast as I could and get out of there.

Something was very wrong with this place.

“Find Lyra!” Theo barked. “I don’t care where you think she went or what it is she’s doing. Find her and bring her back to me. And if you don’t find her, then get Eden and bring her to me” He snapped. “I need her to fill in as Luna.”

From his slurred speech, I could tell that Theo was drunk.

There was a small pause. Then Alpha Griffin responded. I heard the smile in his voice.

“I’m on it. I will get Eden to you. I already have Rose with me. Very soon, you will have what you want.” He said.

I felt a chill run throught me I knew something was wrong from the beginning.

I felt a chill run through me, I knew so

Rose wasn’t safe here.

I slipped away from them and took another path round the side of the house. I need to get Rose out of here as soon as

possible.
