MISTAKE 232
Chapter 232: Lies
When she left, the nurse asked if to call the police but the doctor shot her a cold look.
"Is it your first time working here? You have not been briefed about calling law enforcement? You better keep your nose out of people's business or you will not know when you die," he warned and nodded with a slight shiver.
Hazel stood in line for a while till it was her turn. The nurse asked for several things including her Id. She answered blankly, till she was asked to fill in patient information. She filled his
name in as Marcus Green.
"Family needs to sign here, how are you related to the patient?" At that question, Hazel froze. Her mind spun a few times. If she said she did not know him, then the story she had told the doctor would come into question.
"Madam?" the nurse called her out of her daze.
"I am his wife," she replied in a panic.
'Okay then, Mrs. Marcus Green. The nurse said and a man who was about to leave the hospital froze at the nurse's words and stared at Hazel's back in slight shock.
The nurse seemed to busy to note her panic as he finished with her and moved onto the next person. By the time Hazel returned to the emergency room, she was notified that her 'husband had been moved to a shared room. She walked in to see other patients surrounded by family, she guessed it must have been visitation hour. She walked over her 'husband's' designated bed and finally had the opportunity to see his face clearly. She only had one word to describe him godly. Every inch of him, from the hair on his thick brown to his slightly pale lips was perfection.
"Well, at least I married well," she muttered.
She felt the urge to touch his face but paused when she recalled his sharp gaze when they had locked eyes in the taxi, she restrained her self. She watched what the families around were doing and took a mental note of what she needed.
Then she stepped out of the ward to get things.
She made her way to the nearest supermarket and picked some necessities for her 'husband' and returned to the hospital in haste. But she stepped onto the hospital lobby, she locked eyes with someone she wished she would never seen for the rest of her days and felt the need to curse. It was her stepsister Jenny. She wondered if the world was against her. On one of her worst nights she had to meet this tramp that slept with her ex-fiance. She controlled her expression and glanced at her indifferently before making to walk around her. But old ghost would never give up the opportunity to hunt their prey. Jenny Immediately blocked her way.
"Move," Hazel said.

"Hazel, its been long, can't we even say hi when we meet? It can't be that you are still hung up on my husband?" she asked loudly.
"If you want to join the opera, go ahead. Don't exercise you vocal chord here," Hazel answered but Jenny was undaunted. She took a step back and rubbed her large tummy. She was pregnant and her actions seemed that she was afraid Hazel had not seen it.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
"I know I have wronged you, but can't you just let it go? Are we not sisters? You have always given way for me, why not now? Besides, father misses you," she said and Hazel could already feel the judgmental eyes rest upon her at her words.
"I sent you and both your families to the police for marriage fraud when you decided to let me buy a house and car to prepare for my wedding, while you, your mother and my father went behind my back to print cards for your wedding with him. I am done with a family like yours. But now, I can't even avoid a snake like you? Is it that the beating i gave you and mike was not enough?" Hazel asked and Jenny's face fell when she heard her words.
"Why do you have that look? You did not want me to say it? You are the one who gathered people to watch your movie, but I cannot reveal the spoilers to your viewers? Is it because they did not pay money?" Hazel asked and someone nearby sighed out loud.
"Hazel!" Mile's voice sounded behind her, causing her to roll her eyes. She had always known that bad things that came in pairs.
She glanced at the man who walked in furiously and tiredly sighed.
"Your movie producer is here," she commented and eyes followed a medium built man as he walked over and placed Jenny behind him. "Why are you here?" he asked.
"Is this your family hospital that other people cannot come?" she asked.
"Mike, it's fine, we were just talking," Jenny said while rubbing her baby bump. It was as though every second she stood there, they Jenny did not want anyone to forget that she was
pregnant.
"Stop blocking other people's way. If you have forgotten the beating i gave you, then i don't mind reminding you. Move, my husband is waiting for me," she said and walked past them before they could block her again.
"She is married?" Mike asked, looking frozen. Seeing his reaction, a frown seized Jenny's face. She understood Mike's ego. Even after the beating Hazel gave them a year ago, he was convinced she only reacted that way because she could not let go of him. Hearing that she is married was like a hammer to his ego.
"Mike," she called him and he regain he senses when he saw her wronged expression.
"Do you need to sit down? Does it hurt somewhere?" he asked.
"I need some water, can you get it for me?" Jenny asked and he nodded.
"Sit and wait, I will be back soon." he comforted her and hurried away. The moment he left, Jenny followed the direction Hazel had gone.
She did not believe that Hazel was married. She too thought that Hazel was absolutely in love with Mike. How could she suddenly be married in just one year? She wanted to see with her eyes. She felt Hazel was just saving face.
Hazel had long forgotten about the two she had left behind, as she walked into the room to find that her husband' was gone. She wondered for a moment if he had woken up and left. First she panicked, then she thought it might be a good thing, that way she could get out of the situation she was in.
"Where is my husband that was here?" she asked the family next to her.
"The doctors came and took him," the woman answered and Hazel panicked. She walked out
and found the nearest doctor.
"I heard that doctors came and took my husband who was in this room Why didn't anyone tell me?" she complained and the doctor calmed her before leaving to make inquiries. Panic rushed through her mind as she waited. What if he woke up? What would she say, then? What if they have already called the police?
"He had been moved to another ward, come with me," the doctor returned and informed her. She was half disappointed, half relieved. But she dared not say why, lest she be seen as heartless. She followed the doctor to the new ward, not noticing that Jenny in the corner had been watching them and only left when she followed the doctor away.
She stopped at the entrance of the ward in confusion. Why were they there? She consoled herself that they were only passing through but she was soon proven wrong as they stopped in front of one of the doors.
